Are you seeing Red?

On Pentecost Sunday, May 19th, you may be “seeing red” during our 10:45am Worship Service, but not in an ‘annoying’ or ‘irritating’ way.  You’re invited to wear RED to worship on May 19th; RED is the liturgical color for Pentecost, the day on which we celebrate the ‘birthday of the Church’; or as written in the children’s resource, “On the Chancel Steps”:  today we celebrate the birthday of the world church.  For almost two thousand years, people have been coming together in congregations all over the world to follow Jesus’ commandment to love God and to love one another.  Today we celebrate that we are not Christians alone.  We are Christians together.  We are a family with Christians all over the world.  Come and hear the church’s ‘birthday’ story from The ACTS of the Apostles! Come and worship – for we are Christians together!!

The date of Easter is determined by a system adapted from a formula decided by the Council of Nicaea in CE 325. Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday following the first full moon after the spring equinox.
This usually occurs on March 21st, which means the date of Easter can range between March 22nd and April 25th depending on the lunar cycle.
Much of the church calendar year is determined by the date of Easter.

Lent begins February 13th! Please join us for the Ash Wednesday Service on that day at 6 p.m.!
This will lead us into the upcoming Easter season.
